Open Board Positions

Have you been looking for a way to get more involved with Montera? We’re looking for people for a variety of positions on the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) Board, and we’d love to have you join us! The Board guides fundraising efforts, allocates funds, plans and hosts outreach events, connects the school and parents, and generally supports the school. It’s a great way to meet other parents and have a positive impact on our kids and our community. In addition to the duties outlined below, board members attend monthly meetings on Thursday evenings throughout the school year.

Below are the open PTO Board positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Any of these jobs can be split between two people — grab a friend and come make a difference!

First Vice President

Represents the president when needed, attends Site Council, and is a backup authorized signer for financials. Takes over presidential duties if needed and supports leadership continuity.

VP Communications (Co) – Social Media

Oversees PTO’s presence on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Shares key weekly updates and coordinates with the eBulletin and website teams to ensure timely communication.

Co-VP (Athletics)

Supports the VP of Athletics in coordinating sports activities, coaches, and communication with afterschool programs. Helps manage athletic forms and budgets.

VP Outreach & Membership (Co)

Helps lead efforts to welcome and engage new families, including organizing Toro Tours, mixers, and outreach to feeder schools. Builds community connections and increases parent involvement.

VP Academic Enhancement (Mini-Grants)

Supports teachers and academic programs by helping develop enrichment initiatives and distributing mini-grants. May coordinate academic recognition and work with counselors.

Auditor

Conducts financial audits twice a year (December and July), or as needed. Ensures the organization’s financial integrity, reviews records when a new treasurer takes over, and prepares written audit reports for the board and membership. The auditor must not be related to or live with any financial officers.

Parliamentarian

Advises on meeting procedures, bylaws, and standing rules. Chairs the bylaws committee and facilitates the nominating committee’s first meeting. Helps ensure the board runs according to established rules and governance.

Don't have time to be on the board? Shadow!

Are you interested in learning more about the PTO Board, but not ready to lead?

We are looking for people to shadow and assist board members in all areas this year. This is a great way to meet other parents and learn about PTO roles. It’s a perfect first step to get involved and have a positive impact on our kids and our community.

If you’re interested in assisting or finding out more about a position, please fill out our volunteer interest form or contact president@monterapto.com. Thank you!
