8th Grade Family Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined our 8th Grade Family Meeting on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

During the meeting, Ms. Rasheed and Teena Bowie shared important details about the exciting events and celebrations planned for our 8th graders this school year. Topics included key dates, family resources, and upcoming 8th grade activities such as:

  • Six Flags Trip
  • 8th Grade Dinner Dance
  • Picnic in the Park
  • 8th Grade Promotion

8th Grade Student Events 2025-2026

  • Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Date: TBA
    Time: 10:30 AM - 7:30 PM
    Transportation: Buses leave from and back to Montera (back parking lot)
    All 8th graders are invited, as long as they meet behavior expectations
    Please ensure you have submitted the permission slip
    Chaperones: Teachers and parents
    Food Plan: $$ or sack lunch
    A payment of $50 per student is requested, which partially covers the cost of the trip.

  • 8th Grade Dinner Dance
    Date: Saturday, May 16
    Time: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
    Location: Montera MUR
    Attire: Formal attire encouraged
    Requirements: Permission slip required
    Chaperones: Chaperones will be needed
    Tickets: $20
    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

     
  • Picnic in the Park
    Date: Friday, May 22
    Time: 9:15 AM - 3:00 PM
    Transportation: Buses leave from and back to Montera
    Location: Roberts Regional Park in Oakland
    Participants: All 8th graders invited, as long as they meet behavior expectations
    Requirements: Permission slip required
    Chaperones: Teachers and parents are chaperoning
    Refreshments: Lunch provided, donations for drinks and snacks requested
    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

     
  • 8th Grade Promotion
    Date: Wednesday , May 27
    Time: 3:00 PM - 6:00PM
    Location: Rawley (Farnsworth) Theater, Skyline High School
    (Students need to arrive at 3:45PM)

We understand that not all families can contribute the full amount — please give what you're able to. No student will be turned away due to lack of finances.
