Summer Math Programs for Rising 9th Graders
Dear 8th Grade Students,
Are you looking to strengthen your math skills before high school? Oakland Unified is offering two Summer Math Programs designed to help you succeed in 9th-grade Algebra 1! These programs will be held at Fremont High School and Oakland Tech, and more details on enrollment will be shared in March.
Program Options

| 9th Grade Math Boost | A math enrichment course designed to help students be as successful as possible in 9th-grade Algebra 1. Upon completion, students will build confidence, feel prepared, and gain a head start in high school math! | June 9 – July 11, 2025 Holidays: June 19 & July 4 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM |
| Intensive Algebra 1 | Engage in a fast-paced course covering a full year of Algebra 1 standards. By successfully completing this course, you will be well-prepared and eligible to enroll in Geometry as a 9th grader. | June 9 – July 11, 2025 Holidays: June 19 & July 4 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM |
Algebra 1 Certification Exam
If you take Algebra 1 before 9th grade, you must:
- Complete an accredited course
- Earn an A or B
- Pass the Algebra 1 Certification Exam
Exam Dates:
- Friday, July 11, 2025 | 9:00 – 11:00 AM
- Friday, July 25, 2025 | 9:00 – 11:00 AM
