Summer Math Programs for Rising 9th Graders
Dear 8th Grade Students,
Are you looking to strengthen your math skills or accelerate before high school? Oakland Unified is offering Summer 2026 Math Programs designed to help you succeed in 9th-grade Algebra 1 or move ahead in your math journey!
Program Options

A math enrichment course designed to help students be as successful as possible in 9th-grade Algebra 1. Upon completion, students will build confidence, feel prepared, and gain a head start in high school math! | June 8 – July 10, 2026 Holidays: June 19 & July 3 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM Location TBD |
| Intensive Algebra 1 (Link coming soon) |
Engage in a fast-paced course covering a full year of Algebra 1 standards. By successfully completing this course, you will be well-prepared and eligible to enroll in Geometry as a 9th grader. | June 8 – July 10, 2026 Holidays: June 19 & July 3 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM Location TBD |
Algebra 1 Certification Exam
If you take Algebra 1 before 9th grade, you must:
- Complete an accredited course
- Earn an A or B
- Pass the Algebra 1 Certification Exam
Exam Dates:
- Friday, July 10, 2026 | 9:00 – 11:00 AM
- Friday, July 22, 2026 | 9:00 – 11:00 AM
